What You Think, You Become

success.jpg

“The thought manifests as the word;
The word manifests as the deed;
The deed develops into habit;
And habit hardens into character;
So watch the thought and its ways with care,
And let it spring from love
Born out of concern for all beings…
As the shadow follows the body,
As we think, so we become.”
– Buddha

This is why it is so important to steer your thoughts towards how I can achieve my dreams, how I can make this world a better place for everyone, and how I can help others to achieve their dreams.

When faced with any situation, problem or course of action, Robert Kiyosaki said it best when he mentions asking yourself “how can I do this?” rather then the statement “I can’t do that!” You see the difference? When your thoughts are focused on the “I can’t” your mind and the universe will work together to find ways to make it impossible, when you ask instead “How can I?” Your mind goes to work finding ways to make it possible. If you persist in this thought pattern long enough, take action on the solutions your mind creates and be persistent in your course of action, a strange thing happens — the universe actually starts to make things happen that make it possible for you to achieve your dreams. It actually tends to start helping you out.

Why is that? Simple, your mind is more powerful then the universe, and where you direct it is the direction it will steer the universe.

… and another related quote:

“The only time anyone has ever gotten into serious trouble was when he decided he could do nothing about something.”
– L. Ron Hubbard

Now, with words of wisdom like that, I’ll pick up where I left off last quote. Once again, it comes down to asking yourself “how can I _____?” Just insert whatever it is you’re looking to do, or whatever situation you’re looking to do something about, and again, as I said above, when you do that, you put your mind to work on solutions and actions you can take. Once you have a plan of action, it’s go time. Take action on that plan and you will be far better off then those who said to them selves “I can’t ____” (insert whatever action or situation is relevant in the blank). Those who said “I can’t” have just shut their mind down to the possibilities and solutions and can now only take whatever life throws at them.

Who do you want to be, a “how can I?” person, or an “I can’t” person? Personally, I’ve chosen to be a “how can I?” person. It’s harder work, but has better rewards in the end, and a much better life waiting for me at the end of the hard work finding ways to “can”. Then again, an “I can’t” ends up working hard too, just at finding ways to “can’t” and to thus fail.

So what it all comes down to is this: would you rather be expending your time and effort on finding ways to fail, or finding ways to succeed?
